Titan Cherry Tree of Rockport

Chapter: The Titan Cherry of Rockport

Overview

The Titan Cherry tree is Rockport’s greatest natural wonder and most jealously guarded secret. Growing primarily along the southern banks of Willowmere Lake, these colossal cherry trees thrive where mineral-rich waters from the underground river mingle with traces of greenstone crystals and basalt from the mines.

Each spring, their blossoms wash the eastern village in a breathtaking blush of pink, marking the beginning of festival season. The trees are more than just beautiful—they are ancient, resilient, and central to the village’s culture, economy, and legends.

Growth & Lifespan

  • Growth Cycle:

    • +1 foot per year until 10 ft. tall.

    • +1 foot per decade until 100 ft. tall.

    • +1 foot per century beyond.

  • Lifespan: Millennia. Some trees in Rockport are thought to be older than written history.

  • Requirements: Mineral-rich soil and medium-to-high ambient magical energy. Without both, saplings wither.

Blossoms & Bees

  • Titan Cherry blossoms last longer and bloom larger than common cherries.

  • Bees feeding on these blossoms produce Titan Honey, famous for its sweet mineral-floral taste and faint magical properties.

  • This honey is a staple of Rockport festivals and a sought-after export.

The Fruit

Titan Cherries are immense, coming in three rarity tiers:

Size Example Flesh Yield Value
Common Apple-sized 1 serving 5–10 gp
Greater Avocado-sized (~7 lb flesh) 6 servings 50–75 gp
Rare Titan Small watermelon (~20 lb flesh) 12 servings 500–750 gp
  • Preservation: Titan Cherries keep 10× longer than common fruit.

  • Flavor: Sweet, dense, and highly energizing.

  • Cultural Role: Festivals, feasts, and offerings to honored guests.

Wood, Bark & Leaves

  • Wood: Strong as oak, light as pine, flame-resistant. Used in beams, ships, and weapons. Considered sacred and rarely felled.

  • Bark & Leaves: Dried material creates fragrant smoke for preserving meats, infusions, or teas. Occasionally used in alchemy as substitutes for rare herbs.
