Player's Glossary
This page contains only the essential terms you need for your first session.
-
The System: An ancient, galaxy-spanning intelligence that has noticed you. It provides the rules and tools for you to grow in power by turning your actions and beliefs into game mechanics like Skills, Stats, and Levels.
-
Scene Orchestrator (SO): The person running the game. They are your guide and narrator, describing the world, playing the roles of other characters, and helping you understand the results of your actions.
-
Flux Check: The main way to see if you succeed at a difficult action. You'll roll a small pool of six-sided dice. High numbers (5-6) are successes, low numbers (1-2) are failures that subtract from successes, and middle numbers (3-4) do nothing. Your SO will tell you how many successes you need.
-
Paradigm: The core of your character's identity, which you chose during creation. It's made of two parts: your Focus (Physical, Mental, or Balanced) and your Crisis Response (Action, Defense, or Support). This choice determines your starting strengths.
-
Origin: Your character's background or profession before the game starts. This gives you a starting benefit, like a special ability or bonus.
-
Species: Your character's race, like Human, Elf, or something else. Your species gives you a unique starting benefit.
-
Stat: A number that represents one of your character's core abilities, like Strength or Intelligence. Your stats are used to figure out how powerful your actions are.
-
Skill: A specific thing your character can do, like "Swords" or "Persuasion." Using skills makes them stronger, and as they gain levels, you will earn points to unlock new abilities.
